Tester Secures New Snowplow for Big Timber Airport

Grant to Keep Airport Safe, Community Connected During Winter

(U.S. Senate) – The Big Timber Airport will have a new snowplow next winter, thanks to a grant secured by U.S. Senator Jon Tester.

The grant, totaling $217,800, will fund a new carrier vehicle and snow removal equipment.

Tester was the only member of Montana’s delegation who voted for the bipartisan agreement that delivered the money through the Federal Aviation Administration’s grant program.

“Snow doesn’t stop the people of Big Timber from going about their business, and now it won’t stop them from traveling during the winter,” said Tester, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which funds airport grants. “This new snowplow will make air travel to and from Big Timber safer, and allow the community to stay connected and accessible year-round.”

Tester noted that air travel is key to bringing business and travelers to Montana, and to keeping families and communities connected.

Tester has worked hard to improve infrastructure at rural airports as part of his #ConnectMT initiative, including securing nearly $2 million for weather systems and runway improvements at the Stevensville Airport, $200,000 for a runway expansion at the Deer Lodge City-County Airport, and $2 million for runway upgrades at the Laurel Municipal Airport.
