Tester Calls VA Secretary to Discuss VA Montana Inspector General Report

(U.S. Senate)- Following the release of the VA’s Office of Inspector General report on VA Montana, and after immediately calling to address the report with VA Secretary David Shulkin, U.S. Senator Jon Tester released the following statement:

“I spoke with Secretary Shulkin tonight and he assured me that addressing these issues will be a priority. I will continue to hold VA Montana accountable to ensure they are following the recommendations of the Inspector General, and as Ranking Member of the Veterans Affairs Committee I will be taking swift steps to ensure the VA speeds up the delivery of quality care at Fort Harrison and other VA Clinics across Montana.”

After hearing reports from local veterans, Tester requested the VA’s Office of Inspector General launch this investigation in November 2015.

Tester introduced bipartisan legislation this week to overhaul the Veterans Choice Program.
