Tester Statement on the Anniversary of the January 6th Capitol Insurrection

U.S. Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement on the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection at the United States Capitol:

“January 6, 2021 was one of the darkest days in our nation’s history, and our democracy owes a deep debt of gratitude to the Capitol Police and first responders who fought to defend the Capitol that day. We’ve got to hold accountable those responsible for their role in this attack, whether they violently stormed the Capitol or used their words or their silence to encourage the same. To my colleagues that continue to deny the reality of what happened on January 6th, you are undermining our country and strengthening our adversaries like Russia and China. I continue to stand with Americans of all backgrounds and ideologies who respect the outcome of our democratic elections, regardless of who wins. We must move forward together as a nation and reaffirm our commitment to one another and the democratic ideals we hold dear.”
