Following Tester Efforts, New Primary Care VA Clinic Opens its Doors to Miles City Veterans

Chairman helped secure funds in Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations package for construction of new clinic to better serve southeast Montana veterans

Following sustained efforts from U.S. Senator Jon Tester, the Montana VA Health Care System today opened the doors to its newest primary care clinic to veterans in Miles City.

“It’s been an honor working hand-in-hand with the local community and VA to deliver this great victory for veterans in Miles City,” said Tester. “Veterans across southeast Montana will now have access to specialized care and higher quality services from dedicated VA medical professionals at this new location. This facility will help the local economy and most importantly ensure our veterans can more easily get the care they earned in service to this country.”

As the top Democrat on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee and a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Tester fought to secure $3.6 million as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill to improve services and care at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This funding supported the construction of the new VA facility in Miles City, as well as other efforts to upgrade VA facilities across the state.

The new, 4,500 square foot clinic will serve nearly 900 veterans in the surrounding area, and will offer primary care and lab services, in addition to women’s health-focused services and telehealth services. The facility is also designed around the Patient Aligned Care Team model, which provides care that is patient-driven, proactive, personalized, and team-based.
