Tester Statement on Reports that Tracy Stone-Manning will be Nominated to Lead Bureau of Land Management

U.S. Senator Jon Tester released the following statement on reports that President Biden will nominate Tracy Stone-Manning to be the Director of the Bureau of Land Management:

“This would be a big deal for Montana and for all Americans who value our public lands and the thousands of good-paying jobs that depend on their responsible stewardship. Tracy Stone-Manning is imminently qualified to take the helm at the Bureau of Land Management at such a critical time for the agency. She understands the complex issues facing the Department, and I know if nominated she’d bring Montana commonsense to land management decisions that will keep our economy thriving.”

Tester has long fought against the politicization and corruption at the Bureau of Land Management under its previous head William Perry Pendley, who advocated for the selling off of America’s public lands and who served illegally as acting head of the Bureau even after he was ordered removed by a federal judge.

Tracy Stone-Manning is a Senior Advisor at the National Wildlife Federation based in Montana, and former Chief of Staff to Governor Steve Bullock. She previously served as a senior aide to Senator Tester.
