Tester Announces $10 Million for Great Falls Aquatic-Recreation Center

Senator secured legislation authorizing funding for the new project under the Defense Community Infrastructure Program that will serve Malmstrom servicemembers and families

Following sustained efforts from U.S. Senator Jon Tester, Great Falls and Malmstrom Air Force Base will receive $10 million for the construction of a new aquatic and recreation facility that will serve servicemembers and families in the area.

“This is exciting news for Great Falls and the Malmstrom community, soon to be the new home of this state-of-the-art aquatic-recreation center," said Tester. “I was proud to champion the creation and funding for this program because as the folks at Malmstrom know better than anyone, the backbone of family readiness means a strong foundation rooted in the community—and this facility is a welcome addition for our servicemembers and their families.”

In 2019, Tester partnered with Senators Jerry Moran and Heidi Heitkamp to include Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) funding in the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a must-pass annual bill that sets funding levels and policies for the Department of Defense (DOD). Tester again led the charge alongside Moran, successfully securing $50 million through the defense appropriations bill to support critical public infrastructure and quality of life initiatives. Earlier this year, Tester doubled down his efforts by urging the Office of Economic Adjustment to provide funding for the DCIP, as part of his overall push to support military members and families at Malmstrom.
