On Senate Floor, Tester Blasts Trump for Unconscionable Remarks on American War Heroes

Senator leads resolution honoring the service and sacrifice of members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans, and Gold Star families and denouncing the President’s disparaging comments

U.S. Senator Jon Tester, Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, took to the Senate floor today to condemn President Donald Trump’s disparaging of Americans who lost their lives in war.

“This President has crossed the line,” said Tester. “‘Suckers’ and ‘losers’ do not belong in the same sentence as our military, especially when you are talking about the Greatest Generation that gave their lives for this country. It is not time for resolutions that are political games—it is time to tell this President he screwed up. And if we don’t, it will affect this country’s future long after he steps out of the presidency.”

Tester also joined his Senate colleagues today in introducing a resolution to denounce the President’s shameful remarks, and honor the service and sacrifice of members of the U.S. Armed Forces and veterans. Tester quickly blasted Trump’s remarks last week following initial reporting.
