Tester Announces More Than $3 Million For Billings Logan International Airport

$3,197,856 to reconstruct runway and help #ConnectMT

U.S. Senator Jon Tester has secured more than $3 million in federal funding to help the Billings Logan International Airport reconstruct their runway.

The $3,197,856 grant was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and comes on the heels of a $1 million grant Tester secured for the airport earlier this month.

“Montana is a big state, and often times air travel is the only way to get folks from one place to the other,” Tester said. “That's why responsibly investing in Montana's airports is so important, because air travel supports good-paying jobs, our tourism economy, our businesses, and our Big Sky way of life.”

"Today's announcement that the Billings Logan International Airport will be receiving Federal funds for $3,197,000 is fantastic news," said Kevin Ploehn, Director of Aviation and Transit for the City of Billings. "These grant funds help the Billings Airport to keep up with all the infrastructure improvements that are required to keep the traveling public safely moving. These funds are much appreciated."

As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, Tester worked hard to reauthorize the AIP through last year's FAA Reauthorization Act. And as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Tester secured an additional $500 million in funding for the Airport Improvement Program in the 2019 budget bill.

Tester's #ConnectMT initiative seeks to connect folks across Big Sky Country—both online and in person—by investing in Montana's physical and digital infrastructure. Just this month, Tester secured more than $20 million for airports across Montana, including those in Billings, Bozeman, Kalispell, Great Falls, and Missoula.
