Central Montana Head Start to Receive more than $1 Million Thanks to Tester’s Efforts

$1,103,610 grant will help provide children in Fergus, Musselshell & Wheatland Counties with education, nutrition, and family services

(Big Sandy, Mont.) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced more than $1.1 million for Head Start child development and early education programs in Central Montana.

The $1,103,610 grant will enable Central Montana Head Start to continue providing education, health, and nutrition services to children and families across Fergus, Musselshell, and Wheatland Counties.

“Head Start provides our kids with the educational, physical, and emotional support they need to thrive,” Tester said. “This is an investment in our next generation and an investment in families across Montana’s frontier counties.”

The funding comes from the Administration for Children & Families, which oversees Head Start, Early Head Start, and Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Programs across Montana. These programs provide educational, nutritional, and social services to both children and families in an effort to help the next generation hit the ground running in kindergarten and beyond.

As a former teacher and school board member, Tester has been a champion for Head Start programs. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, he fought to secure more than $10 billion for Head Start this year.

He also recently announced four other grants for Montana Head Start programs:
