Tester Delivers for Great Falls Redevelopment

$500,000 Grant Will Clean Up Brownfields, Spur Economic Growth

(Big Sandy, Mont.) - U.S. Senator Jon Tester has secured a grant for the Great Falls Development Authority to clean up and redevelop properties in Great Falls and use them to grow the local economy.

The grant, worth half a million dollars, will provide for revolving loan financing to clean up and then properly manage potentially hazardous sites in Great Falls.

"Investing in Great Falls' infrastructure benefits everyone," Tester said. "This grant cleans up hazardous materials, and by doing so creates business opportunities that will lead to more jobs and a boost to the Great Falls economy."

"Brownfields" are properties that need proper management to fully achieve their economic potential, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) brownfield grants are directed at properties where the presence of hazardous substances can complicate the properties' expansion, redevelopment, or reuse.

Tester recently secured an EPA brownfield grant worth $400,000 to clean up brownfield sites in Lewistown.
