Daines, Tester Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Secure Funds for West Yellowstone Airport

U.S. SENATE -U.S. Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines introduced a bipartisan bill to allow seasonal, non-primary airports that are open less than 6 months a year and have at least 8,000 enplanements to receive increased Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding and to compete for terminal grants. West Yellowstone Airport in Montana meets the criteria.

"Thousands of folks from all over the world come through West Yellowstone every year to experience Montana's great outdoors," Tester said. "These visitors are vital to our state's economy and the economy of southwest Montana in particular. That's why we've got to make sure West Yellowstone Airport has the support it needs grow its operation and continue serving as a lynchpin of our outdoor recreation economy."

"West Yellowstone Airport serves thousands of Montanans every year and brings in folks from around the world to visit our great state," Daines said. "This bill will help ensure that West Yellowstone Airport has the resources and support it needs to meet the needs of passengers, while also creating jobs in rural communities."

The AIP helps build and maintain Montana's critical aviation infrastructure such as runways.
