Tester Sends 19th Bill to President Trump's Desk

Tester: I'll Keep Working with Anyone to Get Things Done for Montana

(U.S. Senate)-U.S. Senator Jon Tester has sent his 19th bill to President Donald Trump’s desk to be signed into law.

Tester’s bill, the Veteran Transition Improvement Act, will ensure all newly hired VA physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, chiropractors, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists and expanded-function dental auxiliaries who are disabled veterans will not have to face the financial hardship of taking unpaid leave to receive necessary medical treatment.

“I will keep working with anyone in either party to get things done for Montana,” Tester said. “The folks who deployed into harm’s way to defend our nation deserve our support and this bipartisan bill does right by our nation’s disabled veterans.”

Tester, the Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, introduced the Veteran Transition Improvement Act in April 2017 with cosponsors Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii).

Tester authored the bill with the support of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), and nearly a dozen other veteran advocacy organizations.

Tester has authored 18 bipartisan bills that President Trump has signed into law since January 2017. The Veteran Transition Improvement Act will be the 19th Tester bill that President Trump signs into law. All are bills that Tester had a significant role in writing.
