Tester Delivers Clean Water to Scobey, Paradise and Stillwater County
Senator Secures Funding to Help Improve Infrastructure in Rural Montana Communities
(U.S. Senate) - U.S. Senator Jon Tester secured three grants to deliver clean water and help rural Montana communities upgrade their water and sewage infrastructure.
The grants come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development program and will benefit Scobey, Paradise, and Stillwater County.
Tester was the only member of Montana's delegation to vote for the bipartisan agreement that provided these grants.
"Clean water is key to any community's health, especially in rural Montana," said Tester, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. "This money will help Montanans maintain the integrity of their water systems and provide a lasting investment in their communities for years to come."
Scobey's $507,000 grant will fund replacing and expanding Scobey's current cast iron water pipes, installed in 1919, with new, safer PVC piping.
Paradise currently lacks a cohesive wastewater treatment facility, so this $1,692,000 grant will help create and install one that is affordable and easy to manage.
Stillwater County won a $1,448,000 grant that will go to upgrading the existing wastewater treatment facilities, including new treatment and disinfectant systems to improve water quality in Rosebud Creek.
