Tester Secures Nearly $2 Million for Energy Development in Broadview

Funds Will Help Provide Enough Electricity for 487 Montana Homes

(U.S. Senate) - U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced $1,986,794 to develop renewable energy systems in Yellowstone County.

The loan is part of the USDAs Rural Energy for America Program and will in-part fund the purchase and installation of a wind turbine, which will generate enough electricity to power 487 homes.

"Investments in rural Montana help our farmers, ranchers and small businesses thrive," said Tester, a farmer from Big Sandy. "Funding this wind turbine will help assure folks in Yellowstone County have access to affordable energy."

"We intend for this project to benefit and grow the mostly agricultural economy in Broadview," said Dave Healow, Managing Partner at Two Dot Wind Broadview East. "We are grateful for the support of Senator Tester, as well as our utility, our local landowner, financial backers, and Yellowstone County."

Tester has been a champion for rural Montana, fighting to improve roads, broadband connectivity, and create jobs.

Last year he secured $550 million for the USDA Rural Development program, which funds infrastructure projects across rural America. He also secured funding to create jobs and stoke economic development across rural Montana.

Tester's Improving Rural Call Quality and Reliability Act, which will guarantee basic quality standards for phone calls in rural Montana, is currently on its way to President Trump's desk.
