Tester Honors Montana Workers on Labor Day

(Great Falls, Mont.) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester today celebrated Labor Day in Great Falls and Butte where he delivered the following message to hardworking Montanans:

“Montanans value hard work, and on Labor Day we all must recognize the hard working folks in Montana’s labor movement, from builders to teachers, from refiners to miners, from plumbers to drivers. Montana has a long history of workers coming together to make life better for the next generation, and that way of life continues today.

We are standing on the shoulders of the working folks and labor union members who came before us, who fought for fair wages, fair hours and safe working conditions. It is our responsibility to increase economic prosperity for our kids and grandkids.

As your Senator, I will always stand with working families. I will continue to fight for good jobs, push for livable wages, and your protect and expand the right to collectively bargain, and strengthen working conditions so everyone has a fair shot at prosperity. I will fight to increase access to quality and affordable health care and protect critical pensions and safety nets so families can retire in peace. I will also continue to stand with you and fight alongside of you to beat back the attacks on organized labor and working families. When workers unite, we can accomplish anything.

We have come a long way, but there is so much more work to do, and I look forward to continuing that fight together.”
