Tester Announces $1 million for Billings Logan International Airport
(U.S. Senate) - Senator Jon Tester announced today that the Billings Logan International Airport will receive $1 million to perform upgrades to one of their main terminal buildings and concourse facilities.
"As the largest city in the Treasure State, Billings is a hub of economic and recreational activity" Tester said. "That's why it's crucial that Billings Logan International Airport has the resources it needs to provide quality service to the thousands of passengers that fly in and out each year."
Kevin Ploehn, Director of Aviation & Transit for Billings Logan International Airport, says the funding will go toward increasing passenger capacity and improving its customers' traveling experience.
"It's always great news to hear the FAA Airport Improvement Program grant funding has been awarded in time for the construction season," Ploehn said. "We are always grateful to get this grant funding from the FAA because without it Montana's airports would have a difficult time accomplishing everything that is needed."
The funding is being awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which provides grants to help develop and improve air travel infrastructure across the country.
In April, Tester voted to pass a long term FAA bill that strengthens national security, boosts tourism, and supports infrastructure investments for Montana airports. The House has yet to act on the legislation despite the FAA's authorization being set to expire on July 15.
