Tester Statement on Passage of Bill to Protect Families from Sex Offenders

(U.S. Senate) -Senator Jon Tester today issued the following statement after voting to pass the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act to help law enforcement track, locate, and arrest sex offenders.

"Keeping our communities and families safe is essential and this bill gives law enforcement the tools they need to track sex offenders and hold them accountable. I'm pleased this bill is moving forward and I hope the House will quickly take it up."

This bill reauthorizes the Sex Offender Management Assistance program which sets minimum standards for sex offender registration and notification. Also, the bill reauthorizes funding for the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and arrest sex offenders who violate the sex offender registration requirements.
