Tester posts entire Iran nuclear agreement online, asks public to read it

Senator encourages Montanans to comment on proposed deal

(U.S. Senate) - After reading the Iran nuclear agreement and submitting his questions to President Obama, Senator Jon Tester wants Montanans to read it and share their thoughts with him.

Tester, who voted to give Congress the authority to review the negotiated deal, is posting the entire agreement on his website at so that Montanans can easily access it.

"Transparency and public input are key to informed decision making," Tester said. "I encourage all Montanans to read the agreement like I did and to send me their thoughts, because we have to get this right in order to prevent a nuclear Iran."

On July 14, the United States, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and Iran negotiated an agreement with the goal of preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Congress is currently in the middle of a 60-day review period.

The Senator last week asked the President specific questions regarding details of the agreement before deciding whether he will support it. Tester has discussed the details of the agreement with Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew.

Tester, as a member of the Senate Banking Committee, voted for the crippling economic sanctions that helped bring Iran to the negotiating table.

The entire Iran nuclear agreement is available online HERE and Montanans can submit their comments HERE.
