Tester Urges Faster Claims Process

Washington, D.C. - The Veterans Administration announced new regulations this week making it easier for vets with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to receive government benefits.

The regulations apply only to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans removing a provision requiring them to prove what caused their illness. Now that the changes are in place, Montana Senator Jon Tester says the V.A. needs to speed up the claims process.
During a hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Tester said, "many of the folks here today have said they were here before and it hasn't gone away, and to be honest with you, I think the people who serve this country deserve better."
PTSD is one of the most common injuries among veterans. The new regulations will mean many more claims will be filed. Tester says speeding up that process is crucial for veterans to get the treatment they need and deserve.
