Rocky PA program receives $73,000 grant

Rocky Mountain College’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies program has been awarded $73,144 from the De-partment of Health and Human Services (Health Resources and Service Administration -HRSA) to improve equipment for a variety of programs.
“This grant allows Rocky to be positioned for the future to adequately train students in different disciplines in healthcare and health performance whether it be the physician assistant, biology, physical education, or athletic de-partment. All will benefit from this as this college continues to grow and explore new opportunities,” said Dr. Bob Wilmouth, RMC physician assistant program director.
The money comes from the American Recovery and Investment Act through a project titled “ARRA—Equipment to Enhance Training for Health Professionals.”
The MPAS program will use these funds to purchase essential lab equipment such as dissection tables, skeletons and torsos, and for an anatomical software license.
The dissection tables will be used as resting tables for the program’s three cadavers, which are stored in the cadaver lab, making them available for hands-on clinical study.
The skeletons and torsos will replace deteriorating skeletons and torsos, which are too fragile to be handled. New items will encourage hands-on exploration and access for multiple students.
The new software program will allow students and faculty unlimited access to an online interactive anatomy Web application which will function on or off campus.
