Tester Turns Up Heat on G.M.

By: Steve Fetveit

Montana Senator Jon Tester turned up the heat on General Motors today, saying common sense was in short supply in the executive offices of the automaker. Tester’s asking Montanans to let the company know how theys feel about the company’s decision to cancel its contract with the Stillwater Mine.

After taking $50 billion in taxpayer money, GM says they’ll now buy their palladium suppies from South Africa and Russia.

Senator Tester voted against the auto industry bailout because he didn’t think the money would create American jobs. He says the move by GM indicates he was correct in his opinion.

"I’m concerned," said Tester, "and I know that Montanans are concerned. This is about Montana jobs, not overseas jobs. Now Montanans can get a hold of me and I can take their concerns to the folks at G.M. and the Auto Task Force."

In making that announcement, Tester launched a new website: http://tester.senate.gov/sillwater where people can go to weigh in on G.M. decision.  The Senator says he'll deliver the feedback directly to General Motors.
