Tester Calls on President-elect Trump to Meet with Veterans Service Organizations Before Nominating Next VA Secretary

Senator Will Lead VA Secretary Confirmation Hearing as Ranking Member of the Senate Veteransâ?? Affairs Committee

(U.S. Senate)-Senator Jon Tester today called on President-elect Trump to meet with Veterans Service Organization leaders before nominating the next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

“The next VA Secretary must fulfill our nation’s commitment to those who served,” Tester said. “It is absolutely critical that President-elect Trump gathers input directly from veterans and Veteran Service Organizations before choosing the next leader of the VA, and that he understands the urgent challenges that many veterans face across the country-especially in rural states like Montana.”

Tester has served on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee for a decade and will become its Ranking Member in January. He will help lead the confirmation hearing of the next VA Secretary. Tester has a strong track record of working with VA Secretaries under both Republican and Democratic Presidents.

Tester has been working with Veterans Service Organizations as Montana’s only member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee to better hold the VA accountable, get meaningful reforms passed, and increase access to care for rural veterans.
