Tester statement on Senate Banking Committee markup

(U.S. Senate) – Senator Jon Tester, a senior member of the Senate Banking Committee, issued the following statement after today’s markup on the Financial Regulatory Improvement Act of 2015:

“This bill is far too broad in scope. I’m disappointed that rather than work on a bipartisan agreement to provide community banks and credit unions with much needed regulatory relief, the bill was crafted behind closed doors with no transparency. Moving forward, we need to focus on the things that we all agree on, so we can actually accomplish real regulatory relief, and not just talk about it.”

Senator Tester has introduced the CLEAR Relief Act and the CLEAR Relief Plus Act which reduce the regulatory burden for community banks.
