Lewistown student nominated by Tester accepted to West Point

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that Nicholas Loos has been accepted to the prestigious U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Nicholas Loos, 18, is a skilled athlete, Eagle Scout, and currently a West Point Association of Graduates Sponsored Cadet at the Marion Military Institute in Carlisle, Penn. Nicholas has never lived in Montana but his family is from Lewistown. He has spent every summer in Big Sky Country and considers Montana to be the only constant in his life after moving 14 times. Nicholas’ father graduated from West Point.

Senator Tester nominated Nicholas based on his public service and commitment to serving his country. Today, Senator Tester called Nicholas to congratulate him on his acceptance.

“It is an honor to nominate an impressive student like Nicholas to West Point,” said Tester, a former teacher. “I’m confident that Nicholas’ dedication and commitment to serving his country will be an outstanding example for his generation.”

Late last year, Tester nominated 30 Montana students to the nation’s military service academies based on their academic achievement, leadership, community service and participation in extracurricular activities.

Montanans interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future are encouraged to do so online at Tester’s website.
