Tester: Corporate greed should never trump Montana families

(HELENA, Mont.) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement following news that W.R. Grace & Co., the chemical company blamed for the asbestos contamination that killed hundreds of residents in Libby, is planning to fight tougher rules that would prevent asbestos contamination:

“Corporate greed should never, ever trump the health of Montana families. Asbestos is a known killer, and these new rules go a long way in preventing more people from getting sick. Anyone who would fight these new standards clearly doesn’t care about the folks that work for them.”

Tester introduced legislation in 2011 to recruit healthcare specialists to underserved communities like Libby that are Public Health Emergencies, a designation that Tester and Senator Max Baucus helped secure.
