Tester odd man out in new Republican-controlled Congress

MISSOULA, Mont. – As the 114th United States Congress kicks off this week, Senator Jon Tester has a new status — he’s now Montana’s senior representative in Washington, D.C.

For the first time, he’s also the odd man out — the state’s only Democrat.

We talked to the senator from his office at the Capitol on Thursday.

Tester says he’s feeling optimistic about Congress being productive this year, but he says it will all depend on how much Republicans and Democrats are willing to work together.
