Veterans offer ideas, suggestions for VA fixes

About 20 veterans from the Great Falls area attended a listening session with Sen. Jon Tester on Wednesday at the University of Great Falls.

President Barack Obama signed a bill last week aimed at improving the Department of Veterans Affairs, but “that doesn’t mean the work is over with,” Tester, D-Mont., said.

During the session, area veterans asked questions about the bill and also offered areas where the VA could improve.

Most said they were happy with the VA medical center at Fort Harrison in Helena and the vet clinic in Great Falls, but that the staff is overworked and drowning in paperwork.
